Billfish
We target billfish including Blue Marlin, White Marlin, and Sailfish during the summer months into fall.
Tuna Fish
In NJ, we target Yellowfin Tuna, Big Eye Tuna, Longfin Tuna (Albecore) and medium Bluefin Tuna in the summer and fall months and Giant Bluefin Tuna in NC when they appear which is generally in the winter months. The other species of Tuna, including Blackfin Tuna, can also be caught during this period.
Swordfish
We target Swordfish during summer and fall months. We typically fish for Swordfish on combination Tuna trips while on overnight chunking trips in the canyons off the NJ and MD coasts.
Mahi
Mahi begin to show up in early spring and can be caught throughout the spring, summer and fall months. Mahi are voracious eaters and will bite on baits and plugs while Tuna and Billfishing. Often we will load up on Mahi swimming around debri or Lobster pots.
Wahoo
We typically catch Wahoo in the summer months off the NJ coast but they may be caught throughout the year in NC. We will target Wahoo in the winter months out of Beaufort Inlet. When the conditions are right, and the bite is on, the Wahoo tend to be much larger in the winter.
Shark
Sharks can be caught throughout the year. In NJ, sharks begin to show up in the spring and may be caught through the fall. They have been quite plentiful in NC throughout the year. While there are a variety of shark species, we principally target Mako and Thresher Sharks which make great table fare.
Striper
Stripers are cooler water fish and peak in the late fall into early winter in Southern NJ waters. They can be caught in the back bays, Delaware Bay and the ocean. The prime time has been mid to late October into
December. Trolling has been the preferred means of Striper fishing in the ocean while chunking has been the norm in the bays.
