Captain John Overpeck has been fishing the Atlantic Coast since he was knee high to his father who introduced him to the sport before entering kindergarten. He caught his first Yellowfin Tuna at the age of 8 and began running his father’s 28′ Chriscraft at the ripe old age of 10. Since then, John earned his USCG 100 Ton Masters License and embarked as a full-time Charter Captain upon his early retirement from a successful career as a CPA. Captain John and his crew take fishing very seriously and make it their mission to provide their charters with a fishing adventure and a memorable experience of a life time. He will bring to bear his many years and extensive tournament and offshore fishing experience in the Northeast Canyons and the Gulfstream waters off the NC coast to put you on the fish. You can also count on Captain John to provide you with an honest assessment of the fishing and sea conditions with a view to avoiding uncomfortable boat rides. Captain John fishes all year around following the fish from NJ to NC. The Captain’s focus is on catching pelagic species such as Tuna, Marlin, Mahi and Wahoo but will pursue other offshore and inshore species such as Flounder and Stripers at the request of charters. Under USCG regulations, the Jeannie D. can accommodate up to 6 passengers plus captain and crew. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance, and in this regard, the Captain asks that our passengers not bring firearms and liquor aboard. And to provide passengers with further peace of mind, the Captain is also a member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators and its random drug testing consortium.
